1. University Profile

Guiyang Healthcare Vocational University is the earliest health vocational school in Guizhou Province, the first full-time public undergraduate vocational school in Guizhou Province, and the only vocational university with health characteristics in China. The school was founded in 1939, in 2021, approved by the Ministry of Education to Guiyang Healthcare Vocational College. So far, the school has trained more than 70,000 technical and technical talents in health and health, and has successively won the national advanced vocational education unit, the first batch of national pilot schools for first aid education, the national vocational education teacher innovation team training and construction unit, and the national high-skilled personnel training base. The province's advanced grass-roots party organizations, demonstration higher vocational schools, high-quality higher vocational colleges, high-level higher vocational schools, medical and nursing combination demonstration units. The university covers an area of 1248 acres. The main campus is located in Guanshan Lake District, adjacent to the Olympic Sports Center, It has 14 teaching institutions, including the School of Marxism, the School of Nursing, the School of Pharmacy, the School of Medical Technology, the School of Public Health, the School of Clinical and Rehabilitation, the School of Health Management, the School of Pharmaceutical Engineering, the School of Smart Elderly Care and Modern Home Economics, the School of Physical Education and Cultural Tourism, the School of Optometry Technology, the School of Basic Medical School, the School of Continuing Education, and the School of International Education. There is one third-class A affiliated hospital; It has a modern comprehensive training building, smart classroom, science and innovation building, library, athletics field, indoor gymnasium, academic activity center, auditorium and other learning and living facilities, with more than 1.4 million books.


The university has more than 13,000 students, a total of 742 full-time teachers, 452 with master's degrees or above, 447 "double teacher" teachers, 343 associate senior or above titles, more than 30 people have been awarded national and provincial vocational teachers, skill masters, industry professors, the most beautiful workers and other titles. Nearly 100 teachers serve as directors, vice chairmen and chairmen of national and provincial associations. Focusing on the implementation of the national strategy for Aging population, Healthy China, and Healthy Guizhou Strategy, the University has set up 17 vocational undergraduate majors in six industrial fields, including health pharmaceutical manufacturing, health elderly care service, health sports, health management, health tourism, and health medicine and food ingredients, with health care professional group as the leading group and pharmacy and rehabilitation treatment professional group as two wings. The "122" professional cluster of "one leading, two wings and two supports" supported by the health management and medical technology professional group has 5 state-level backbone specialties and more than 50 key support projects approved by Guizhou Province talent training quality improvement project, "Revitalizing Guizhou People" action plan and "Skills Guizhou". The university actively promotes the "three education" reform, and is the leading unit of the professional construction and talent training project of the health, medical and old-age service industry chain of vocational colleges in the province; We have carried out the talent training work of the middle school and the high school, and jointly built the "Xiangya Nursing Class" with Central South University to explore the talent training model of all-round integration. There are 5 industrial colleges such as Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ethnic medicine. In the past three years, the school's teachers and students have won more than 150 awards in national and provincial skills, innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, including 1 first prize in the National vocational colleges "Traditional Chinese Medicine Skills" competition, and 9 first prizes in provincial vocational education teaching achievements, educational research achievements, and provincial teachers' teaching ability competitions; The pilot certification rate of "1+X" certificates such as elderly care, child care and household management reached 97%, and the employment rate, counterpart rate and satisfaction rate of graduates reached more than 92%.

2. International Cooperation and Exchange

The school adheres to the opening of education to the outside world, vocational education to the world, and constantly promotes foreign exchanges and cooperation. At present, the university has close exchanges and cooperation with universities along the Belt and Road and in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and has signed more than 10 memorandums of friendship and cooperation. Chinese medicine centers and clinical rehabilitation centers have been set up in Canada and Malaysia, respectively, to build effective platforms for teacher-student exchanges. The school is the "Sino-German Joint Health Care Training Base" of the International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission, which is jointly organized by the German Rayna Fan Pension Group and our school. The Sino-German elderly care cooperation training project effectively combines the professional knowledge and quality management concepts of the two countries, promotes the dual education model, and promotes the rapid development of the elderly care industry in China, especially in the region. The implementation of the project has explored and formulated the industry standard for the localization of German health care experience for the region's health care industry. As of 2023, a total of 13 training sessions have been successfully held, with 40-60 students per session and a total of 735 trainees, with a completion pass rate of 100% and a certificate holding rate of 100%, and the training effect is remarkable.

3. Curriculum and Faculty

Since 2017, GHVU has admitted international students and built a professional faculty with strong teaching experience. Chinese language and cultural courses are available for beginners, and students are immersed in Chinese traditions and the diverse ethnic cultures of Guizhou.

5. Application Eligibility

1) Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens holding a valid foreign passport, in good physical and mental health, with good conduct, and must comply with the laws and regulations of the Chinese government as well as the rules and regulations of Guiyang Healthcare Vocational University.

2) Anyone who aspires to study Chinese language and culture, as well as vocational and technical skills, and who is physically and mentally healthy and willing to abide by Chinese laws and the university's regulations, is welcome to apply for study at our institution.

3) Applicants who have passed HSK Level 4 or above are eligible to apply for vocational bachelor's degree programs. Those without an HSK certificate may apply first and will be placed into appropriate Chinese language training classes depending on enrollment numbers.

4) Academic Education: The vocational bachelor's programs have a duration of four years and are open to foreign students who have completed high school or possess an equivalent level of education. Upon graduation, students will receive a diploma awarded by Guiyang Healthcare Vocational University and certified by the Guizhou Provincial Department of Education.

6. Scholarships

1) First-Class Scholarship (HSK Level 5): ¥8,000 (one-time);

2) Second-Class Scholarship (HSK Level 4): ¥4,500 (one-time).

7. Tuition and Fees

1) Vocational Bachelor: ¥21,000/year;

2) Accommodation: ¥1,100/year;

3) Insurance: ¥400/semester (mandatory).

2Required Application Documents
(1) Academic certificate (graduation certificate or expected graduation certificate for current students), with both the original and a notarized translation in Chinese or English.
(2) Official academic transcripts from the graduating institution, with both the original and a notarized translation in Chinese or English.
(3) Copy of HSK Level 4 or above certificate (if available).
(4) Copy of valid passport.
(5) Foreigner Physical Examination Record.
(6) Other supporting documents as required. For example, international students who have previously studied in China must provide a recommendation letter from their former institution.

9. Enrollment Time

Degree students: Sept. 25–30 (apply by May 31)

10. Registration & Arrival

1) International students must report in person to the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation at Guiyang Healthcare Vocational University during the registration period specified in the Admission Notice, bringing all original documents including the Admission Notice and the Foreigner Physical Examination Record.

2) Upon arrival, students are required to have their overseas physical examination documents and original materials verified by the Guizhou Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau.


3) The Office of International Exchange and Cooperation will assist students with the following:  

l Applying for a residence permit

l Purchasing insurance

l Obtaining a Chinese SIM card

l Opening a bank account

l Certifying medical records

11. Accommodation and Student Life

1) International student dormitories are six-person rooms, with separate arrangements for male and female students.

2) Each room is equipped with a private bathroom, and every student is provided with a bed, closet, and desk.

3) Accommodation Fee: ¥1,100 per academic year.

12. Meals, Insurance, and Medical Services

1) The university has two student cafeterias, one of which includes a halal food window. The average cost per meal is approximately ¥15.

2) Various Chinese restaurants and Western fast-food options are available near the campus.

3) International students are required to purchase health insurance in China at their own expense.

4) An on-campus medical service center operates 24/7 to handle daily health issues.

5) For serious medical conditions, students can seek treatment at Jinyang Hospital, a Tier-3A hospital located about 1 km from the university.
