Cooperation Achieved! China and Laos Jointly Implement Bilateral Education Collaboration to Advance

Pioneering Healthcare, Globalizing Vocational Education

On the afternoon of November 20, 2025, the Health Education Exchange with Laos thematic lecture and symposium were held in Room 9012 of Guiyang Kangyang University. Attendees included Bounthavi Syhavong, Vice Mayor of Pakse City, Laos; Soukkhee Veunkham, Deputy Director of the Information, Culture, and Tourism Office; Bounkham Phethany, Dean of Champasak College of Health Sciences, Laos; as well as Chen Niaoniao, member of the University Party Committee and Vice President of Guiyang Kangyang University, along with representatives from relevant  departments and outstanding students from various faculties—totaling over 40 participants.

Regarding the implementation of the newly established Overseas Kangyang Industry College between the two institutions, Guiyang Kangyang University and Champasak College of Health Sciences have formulated a three-phase development plan:

Year One: Focus on a faculty exchange program, with Guiyang Kangyang University selecting key professional teachers to form a support team for teaching assistance in Laos, while Lao faculty members will visit Guizhou for healthcare skills training.

Year Two: Jointly develop bilingual teaching materials tailored to Laos national conditions.

Year Three: Promote the localization and certification of curriculum standards to align with local needs.

Vice Mayor Bounthavi Syhavong expressed that the Pakse Municipal Government will actively participate in and support the collaboration between the two institutions, facilitating the effective establishment of the Overseas Kangyang Industry College and deepening the integration of education and healthcare industries between China and Laos.

This substantive cooperation between Guiyang Kangyang University and Champasak College of Health Sciences marks a significant achievement under the China-ASEAN Pioneering Healthcare, Globalizing Vocational Education” initiative. It also serves as a practical implementation of China’s "Belt and Road" Initiative and a vivid example of deepening educational exchanges and industrial collaboration between China and ASEAN. The unveiling of the Overseas Kangyang Industry College and the signing of the cooperation agreement have not only established a solid platform for sharing vocational education resources and jointly nurturing talent but also promoted the alignment of healthcare vocational education standards with industrial needs through concrete measures, contributing to the high-quality development of the regional healthcare industry. Moving forward, both sides will build on this collaboration to deepen multidimensional exchanges in education, training, and employment, injecting sustained momentum into fostering a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future and supporting the internationalization of China’s vocational education strategy.
