2025 “China-ASEAN Pioneering Healthcare, Globalizing Vocational Education” Event Successfully Held
Guiyang Kangyang University Joins Hands with Multiple ASEAN Countries to Build a New Future for
Healthcare Vocational Education
On November 20, the 2025 “China-ASEAN Pioneering Healthcare, Globalizing Vocational Education” Event was grandly held at Guiyang Kangyang University. The event brought together government representatives from China, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, academic leaders, industry experts, as well as experts from Macao (China), who gathered to explore new pathways for the internationalization of healthcare-related vocational education.
Under the theme “Pioneering Healthcare, Globalizing Vocational Education—Building a New Future for China’s Integration of Industry and Education”, the event adopted a hybrid online–offline format with simultaneous interpretation in Chinese, English, and Lao, and carried out in-depth discussions on topics such as joint curriculum development, faculty and student exchanges, and training cooperation.

Event Venue
Ran Jiangzhou, Secretary of the CPC Committee of Guiyang Kangyang University, noted in his speech that the university, with more than 80 years of educational development, is the only healthcare-featured vocational undergraduate university in China. The university has seized the opportunities brought by the high-quality development of vocational education, anchored its development direction—“Dual-High Construction, Healthcare-Oriented Development, Strengthening Disciplines, Advancing the Industry, and Building Brand Influence”—and continued to strengthen internal capacity building.
By 2025, the number of full-time students had exceeded 12,000, and the first cohort of more than 2,000 undergraduate students graduated successfully, with the employment rate consistently ranking among the top in Guizhou Province.
Its featured discipline clusters—such as Nursing, Pharmacy, Elderly Care & Management—have become a “talent cradle” supporting the regional healthcare industry. The jointly established “Xiangya Nursing Class” with Central South University has pioneered a new model of “vocational-to-academic integration” in Guizhou.
As a pioneer in healthcare vocational education in Guizhou, the university positions itself openly on the global stage, actively responds to the Belt and Road Initiative, has hosted two consecutive China-ASEAN Healthcare Vocational Education Forums, and has taken on large-scale programs such as “Bridges to Guizhou” and “Study Tour in Guizhou.”
The university has established long-term partnerships with more than 10 ASEAN universities, recruited international students, sent faculty abroad for training and exchanges, and exported high-quality healthcare curriculum standards. “Every exploration reflects the university’s firm determination to ‘globalize vocational education,’ and every achievement demonstrates the deepening friendship between China and ASEAN in healthcare education,” Ran said. He emphasized that the university will continue serving as a bridge for China-ASEAN cooperation in healthcare vocational education and contribute to building a China-ASEAN Health Community.
